Give them to me

Okay, so since Nyssa decided that she was just going to post a random journal :evileye:, I may as well say "What the hell... give me your llamas!" now. So yes, give them to me! Please :paranoid: In return I'll give you extra special ones or something like that :bucktooth:

Macro photography and me

Phew! I'm mostly caught up on all my messages. It took quite a bit, but I got there in the end. Thank you to everyone for all the comments and favourites on Aqueos. I must say I was quite surprised; I guess you could say I'm just surprised in general regarding my switch to a different style of photography and how well its been received.

Apart from the few odd photo sessions where nothing just seems to come out right and much frustration is had (what photographer doesn't have that though), I can honestly say I've been enjoying macro shooting a lot. It's allowed me to get in touch with my creative side again and to have my brain work extra hard to think of different ideas. I don't know how long it will last when it comes to knocking out ideas for shots, but I hope it's later rather than sooner :D

Not so long ago I entered a photo of mine into what would be my first photo contest. When I say first, I don't mean just on dA, I mean ever! I decided to put my shyness aside for a change and entered Turain into Design-of-Liquid's It's Hip to be Square macro photo contest. As you can imagine, I was totally blown away when I noticed that my photo won joint 1st place. It's awesome to win anything, but more so when it's your first time entering something. Since I'm subscribed for a while, I decided to donate the 1 year subscription to one of the other contestants that didn't place in the top three. Awesome contest indeed!

So yes, you could say macro wise things have been going great lately!

Landscape photography and me

I'm sorry to those that watch me more for my landscape photography, but unfortunately my focus will be on macro for a while. That's not to say that I've abandoned my love for landscape photography, it's just I'm rather hindered with how far I can actually go with it. I don't drive, so I have to rely on public transport. As you can imagine, it can be a real pain in the arse to get to some of the more attractive and out of the way places; I'm tightly limited. Taking local photos just isn't cutting it for me anymore. So I guess you could say that until I can get that little problem sorted out, artistic landscape photography will be on hold for a while

The more upbeat news is that I recently received a cheque from Practical Boat Owner magazine for a single use publishing of one of my photos in their latest issue. It's certainly not one of my best photos, but it is rather cool and exciting to see my own photo in a printed magazine. This is now the second time I've been paid for use of my more travel stock photos and I haven't really tried to put them out there more.  Not to mention I can do better than those older shots now. It's just left me thinking that money wise, maybe I should concentrate on travel stock and leave the macro work for pure pleasure. Hmmm!
